
Disabling Autodial
Autodial is okay when everything works, but when
problems arise it can be, well, counterproductive. This is how to disable
it.

Click on the My Computer icon on
your Desktop

Double-click on the Dial-up Networking
icon
-
Click once on the Pennswoods icon
-
Click on the Connections button
at the top of the screen
-
Click on Settings
-
Make sure the box next to Prompt
for information before dialing is checked
-
Make sure Redial is unchecked
-
Make sure the circle next to Prompt
to use Dial-Up Networking
Windows ME

Click on Start, Settings, Control
Panel

Double-click on the Dial-up Networking
icon
-
Right-click on the Pennswoods icon
-
Click on Properties
-
Click on the Security tab
-
Uncheck the box next to Connect
automatically
-
Click on the Dialing tab
-
Check the box next to Never
dial a connection
