RAS Error 740

740 - The TAPI devices configured for Remote Access failed to initialize or were not installed correctly.

  1. Re-install Dial-Up Networking. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
  2. The file telephon.ini may be corrupted and need replaced
    1. Click Start, Find, Files Or Folders
    2. In the Named: box, type telephon.ini
    3. Click Find Now
    4. If you do not find the telephon.ini file, skip to step 4. Otherwise: right-click on telephon.ini click Rename, type telephon.old, and then press [ENTER]
    5. Close the Find window
    6. Click Start, Run, type tapiini.exe, and then press [ENTER]
    7. Restart your computer. Try connecting; hopefully the problem is resolved.
