McAfee Antivirus

Slipstream is compatible with McAfee Antivirus versions 8.0 and higher and McAfee Firewall 6.0 and higher.
It is recommended that McAfee Internet Security Suite be installed prior to SlipStream, in order to reduce
conflicts between the two programs. When installed in this order, SlipStream e-mail acceleration will not be
installed due to an LSP conflict with McAfee's privacy service. To allow e-mail acceleration to be installed,
McAfee Spam Killer and Privacy Service should not be installed.
The following link provides information about McAfee products and LSP conflicts:

Slipstream has LSP conflicts when installed on top of the following
· All McAfee VirusScan 7 versions
· All McAfee Internet Security 5 versions
· All McAfee Firewall 4 versions
When installed on top of these products SlipStream email acceleration will not be installed.
When McAfee Security Suite is installed after SlipStream and email acceleration is enabled, the user will
receive a port conflict message (port 110) when SlipStream is first started.

A manual update of McAfee products requires an internet pop-up window that may be blocked by Slipstream's
pop-up blocker, therefore it is recommend that the pop-up blocker be turned off during a manual update.
In order for SlipStream to work correctly with McAfee Firewall, SlipStream must be granted access to the
internet. The following steps describe this process:
1. Once McAfee is installed, restart the computer and install the SlipStream Web Accelerator.

2. Reboot the computer after installation.
3. After reboot, when the SlipStream Web Accelerator connects to the server for the first time, McAfee
will prompt the user about granting the SlipStream binary (e.g. Slipaccel.exe) access to the internet.
The user must select Grant Access.
